United Parcel Service of America, Inc., typically referred to as UPS, is an American global package delivery company headquartered in Sandy Springs, Georgia, United States in Greater Atlanta. It delivers more than 15 million packages a day to more than 6.1 million customers in more than 220 countries and territories around the world.

On August 28, 1907, James Casey founded the American Messenger Company in Seattle, Washington, capitalized with $100 in debt. In 1913, the first delivery car appeared, a Model T Ford. Casey and Ryan merged with a competitor, Evert McCabe, and form Merchants Parcel Delivery. Consolidated delivery was also introduced, combining packages addressed to a certain neighborhood onto one delivery vehicle. In 1919, service began in Oakland, California. The name United Parcel Service was adopted.
