Indane gas consumers in Coimbatore, Tiruchi and Madurai may soon be able to call and place their refill order through a 24-hour Automated Unified System (AUS). This system was a big success in Chennai and the suburbs where it was introduced last month.
Speaking to TOI, Indian Oil Corporation's Chief Area Manager, S. Lakshminarayanan said that till Thursday 8.5 lakh consumers had registered their landline or mobile numbers to avail of the system from the target base of 17.5 lakh customers. "Of the total number of bookings of refill cylinders 95% have come from the AUS. Consumers are happy that they need not have to call the agency for refill booking, as these numbers are engaged most of the time. Also, the consumers sometimes had to handle rude and arrogant staff in gas agencies," he said.
